"And all things, whatsoever ye
shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive ( matthew 21:22 )
A. Children feel free to make requests
of their parents. They have implicit faith that their needs will be met.
B. we should feel free to ask our
heavenly Father to supply our needs. He is ready to do so if we come to him in
childlike faith.
C. To succeed in prayer, we must go to
God in simple, trusting faith, believing he will answer "according to his
riches in glory . . ."(Phil. 4:19).
2. PRAY SINCERELY
The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much"
(James
5:16b).
A. When Jesus was here on earth, he
told his followers not to pray to "be seen of men" nor to "be
heard for . . . much speaking" (Matt. 6:5, 7).
B. Christians should pray earnestly and
without pretense. "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit . . ." (Eph. 6:18).
C. We succeed in prayer by directing
our prayers to God,
3. PRAY SPECIFICALLY
in every thing by prayer and
supplication let your requests be made known unto God" (Phil. 4:6).
A. Many Christians pray vaguely and
indefinitely. They pray around the world but ask for little or nothing in
particular.
B. To succeed in prayer we must pray
specific prayers for specific people and specific circumstances.
C. Jesus asked blind Bartimeus,
"What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?" The blind man responded
with a specific request and received a specific answer (Mark 10:46-52).
